New camera pics

These SHOULD look better than the ones which I've been posting with my cell phone camera..
Here I was acting like a crazy photographer while sitting in my car, hanging the camera out the window and making Bember 'pose' like a model, only I was giving her weird commands like turn to the side!, now put your hand on your head, the other one on your belly! She was cracking up! Haha.

This is Dear ol' Daddy. If you look closely you'll see that his right eye is a not quite uncrossed. He was making a goofy face, but I 'clicked' just in time to get this mostly nice smile! HA!

Last, but not least: (for today) Uncle John and Aunt Bonnie, in town from Texas. We were out all day (and they yesterday) looking for a perfect home for Grandmother. We think- we hope, we found it. It'll be such a relief to get her into a better place.
Aren't they a cute couple?

I LOVE MY FAMILY!

For Julia :)

I totally want a pair too, so in case anyone (Julia) also wants to make a pair, here's how I did it:
This is so easy! From boring socks to fabulous slippers in fifteen minutes flat! The hardest part is finding no show socks with a low enough cuff. They're like the ones made to go under dress shoes. I found these at Jo-ann on clearance. Walmart has some that are plain pink, green, or blue, and I think I saw some black ones at Target. They are easy to find in nylon, but harder in cotton. Just measure and sew the ribbon(I think elastic lace or something stretchy might work better for adults) on each side of the top of your slipper to create the dancing shoe look. Then sew your flower or bow on the side. (I made a pair for Laura and put the flower right in the center of the ribbon at her request, it was cute that way too) 3-dimensional fabric (puff) paint in whatever design you like on the bottom, let it dry, and voila!

Here are the non-slip bottoms.

So cute!

I made these for Kyara. So cheap, easy, and adorable! She LOVES them! 3 dimensional fabric paint on the bottom will make super cute slippers. I think i need a pair for me:-> (these are womens socks!!)

Bat-can.

So my kid sister didn't want much for her birthday. I decorated this can and filled it full of her favorite treats. I think she really liked it!

Love at home.

"There is beauty all around, when there's love at home."
These two have seriously been playing so nicely all day! Am I having a good day because they are, or are they having a good day because I am? I don't know, I don't know if it matters. I just know the song speaks truth. I hope they remember what good friends they are when they're all  grown up.

Such funny kids!

Ok, I just have to add this to our blog! I think it's so funny! It's a few months old, but I giggle every time I watch it. This is Jase Abuse.

Our little blanky baby

THIS is how you make an 8 year old ex blanky-baby really super happy. I wish I had a picture handy of her with the original blanky Aunt Betty made her when she was born. LaLa was a fussy, even colicky baby. It was a relief when one day~out of frustration, I mean she was obviously tired, why wouldn't she just go to sleep?! Anyway-and don't judge me- I set her down to take a breather and of course she cried harder, so I (gently) tossed the afghan over her. She stopped crying instantly! It took some trial and error the next time, but I soon learned that THAT afghan was the trick. Not just for her to hold it either. It had to be on her face. Good thing it's naturally full of holes! I think that makes it Holy...HaHa! One day soon after, we were at my Grandmother's and she couldn't believe I had it on her face, she insisted it was surely not a good idea! I conceded to her that while she was probably right, it was really, really what LaLa wanted! After a few minutes she again suggested against this practice. So, being obedient, I said, "Alright Grandmother, we'll go ahead and take it off...". INSTANT NON-STOP CRYING followed. To this Grandmother replied "Ew, put it back", and peace was with us once again. LaLa wore out and eventually lost that 'special blanky' in a ball pit. By the end it was really just grey instead of the pretty pink, purple, and white pattern I remember. We have been able to fill the void with blankies I convinced her were just as special, made by her Grandma. But, when in town recently, Aunt Betty offered to make her another. LaLa's eyes lit up and she's looked forward to it's arrival ever since! Well, IT came- in all it's beauty, a brand new Special Blanky! (Thanks Aunt Betty!!)
I bet someone will sleep like a baby tonight!!

Reading marathon!

This is what happens when laura saves a ton of her monthly reading homework for the night before it's due. I don't think Kyara minds...and it's a lot more peaceful than a blaring t.v.!

LaLa's vacation!

LaLa took quite a nice trip! She had a school project in which she made a 'flat' version of herself and mailed it to someone of her choice. (based on a book named "Flat Stanley" She chose her family in CA, and what a great job they did! Thanks Tom(and everyone else)! She and her teacher were quite impressed.

Strange ears.

we removed the corn stalks in preparation for planting winter plants. The kids had lots of fun opening the ears, and they found a couple cool ones. Laura is holding a spiral, and Jase's has a 'tumor',which Is prob the Ome and only little kernel that got pollenated. :*)

Here she goes!

She just may take off one of these days. When I think of Paige, and all the kids, getting big so fast, I sometimes feel kind of sad. I will miss the feel of a baby on my shoulder. Don't get me wrong, older kids are a TON of fun. It is going to be a blast to watch and help them all to grow. I am so blessed to have 5 great kids, and look forward to lots of grandkids. Is it wierd to think of grandkids while I still have TWO in diapers?? I might think too much...

Friday, August 28, 2009

Haha!!

don't tell kyle they were throwing goldfish, she thought it was so funny!!!!

Silly kids!

Kyara and Luke love to play together, just don't let on that you know, Kyara will tell you she's WAY too big to play with him! ;^)

rear view

This week was a blur. We spent lots of time at my Dad's house, where Kyle is remodeling his bathroom. I wish I had taken before and after pictures! So far he's replaced the shower stall. Next we need to paint and replace the tile. I also started math 122 this week. I aced the first week's test so I'm optimistic(although cautiously so, since this was really just a review of the last class). I also had a pretty good week at work. Jase and Laura are having a great school year so far. Last year was so hard for Jase-he and his teacher just DID NOT jive! He looks forward to cross country and student council.
From here out, I vow to take more pictures, so I can look back at my blurry weeks with some clarity! :)
...now where did I put that charger for my camera battery?.....

Swimming and Gardening

We went swimming, as we often do, and a friendly game of tug-of-war insued. The boys never could get April in, but as you can tell from the big splash next to her, she was able to get them in sometimes. While we were out swimming recently I checked on my garden as I often do, and...

I discovered my first 'fruits' in our garden! The kids and I planted corn, watermelon, and pumpkin a month ago or so. We were pretty unsure about how to garden, what to plant, and stuff like that. I held out hope that we could get something green out of the ground, but was prepared to fail-so imagine how excited I am to actually get this far! The kids and I have had a blast with this small patch of ground, and I can't wait to clear a bigger area and plant some more! This garden is a success in my book-even if this is as far as it ever gets!!
Today I went out to eat twice. I guess Im working on a spare tire... I had fun, though. Isn't that what counts?
